Aberdovey break.co.uk offers stunning accommodation in the small Welsh seaside resort of Aberdovey, or Aberdyfi to give it its Welsh spelling. Aberdovey (Aberdyfi) “the Welsh equivalent to Rock” (Sunday Times February 07) is a thriving little harbour resort set within the Snowdonia National Park, where the River Dovey meets the blue waters of Cardigan Bay. Aberdovey was originally developed as a seaside resort in Victorian times and occupies the steep slopes running down to the seafront, some of the colourful houses are actually built into the cliffs! |
Aberdovey is renowned for its excellent sailing and water sports facilities and offers sailing, sailboarding, fishing, boat trips and a very popular Summer Regatta. The Aberdyfi Funfest runs from late July until the end of August, with daily free fun and entertainment for all; Live music, beach games, circus workshops, art workshops and much more. The Grand Finale on August Bank Holiday Monday includes open air concerts, displays, a spectacular light parade and culminates with an incredible fireworks display - lots of fun and excitement for all the family. |
The quayside is gently buzzing during the summer season with children crabbing, eating ice cream and generally having uncomplicated and traditional family beach holiday fun! The village's beach is excellent, given the Blue Flag award in 2005. The beach stretches for four miles up the coastline, perfect for a leisurely stroll, taking in the fresh air. Aberdovey also boasts an 18-hole championship golf course at the western end of the village. |
The area around Aberdovey is littered with many attractions. For example, the Talyllyn Railway, which starts in Tywyn, is well worth a visit and there are numerous historical sites within close driving distance in addition to spectacular mountain and valley scenery including the peaks of the Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy ranges. This is an ideal area for walkers, climbers and wildlife watchers.
